My Ice Cream Bowl

I think my vessel turned out very well. It was almost the exact picture I had drawn out for an idea of what I wanted to make.
But, I ran into a few problems. I wanted to attach clay sprinkles around my bowl. When I tried cutting out tiny sprinkles, the clay folded over, so I couldn’t keep cutting it. So I just cut out little circles so they could be big sprinkles or little polka dots. I also had trouble trying to make it smooth because all the paddles were being used. Luckily, I found one where it wasn’t supposed to be and used that one. Then I put it back in the right place.
I planning to glaze my bowl brown, and then the scoops of ice cream are going to be pink, yellow, and brown just like vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry, and then I’ll paint the cherry red and the sprinkles/polka dots all different colors.
I chose an ice cream theme because I absolutely LOVE it! And I also thought it would look really cool.
Compared to my drawing, my bowl turned out almost exactly alike. Except for the sprinkles, which kind of turned out as polka dots.
My bowl turned out really well, I’m actually kind of impressed because I’ve never had an actual real project with clay before. So I problem solved, learned, and turned out with an awesome vessel! Now I can eat some ice cream!

Ice_Cream_bowl_Final.jpg

I love the turnout of my final vessal!
I didn't get to finish it, becuase getting it to look perfect takes time... :(
It just needed a little bit more time to get finished, but we had to get it done a certain day.
I didn't turn out with the colors I wanted either. I made the wrong choice, and I decided that when it was accidently glazed! It looked just horrible! I wasn't ready for it to be glazed, but someone moved mine to the "glazing" shelf. I had no idea, and when I came into class the next day I was ready to finish my bowl. I walked in and started looking for my bowl, that was still supposed to be dried clay. But it wasn't. It was GLAZED! My friend said, "Hey there's your bowl." And it was sitting on the shelf all shiny.
It's okay, accidents happen. But I still enjoy the turnout of my ice cream bowl, and I'm proud of it, even if the ice cream scoops are still the color of clay!

Hunting Day
Cave Art Story
Part 2

He skated down the mountain quickly, and slick, without making a sound, trying not to startle any animals near by. When he got to the bottom, he stood up straight with his hands on his hips, looking around curiously. “I know I saw some animals somewhere around here in these forests.” He said. Tonda grabbed his bow and stepped out of his sled. Then he spotted a rack, peeking out from the trees. He took a step closer, soundlessly.

My_Ancient_Rock.jpg

My Ancient rock looks totoally ancient!
At first I just thought I was done right away. It didn't take long for me to draw a mountain, a person, and a few little details.
But when I went to show Mrs. Ruggles my rock, she told me what else I should do. She told me to add red to my mountain, and to blend it really well. At first I didn't really like the idea. A red mountain? I couldn't imagine how that would look. But I did what she asked, and it actually started to look better. She had also told me to blend the sides of the mountain with the red, and that looked really cool too. I started to get really into this project and I was enjoying it. My person was to short, so I made him taller. My clouds were to boring, so I made them fluffier. I blended, and blended, and added the sunset color of the horizon, and I added some tan brown to the ground. It looked super good! Definately the closest you can get to cave art when you're not in the ancient times. I really like the turnout of my rock.

Thanks Mrs. Ruggles! :)
